A song written in a haunted room at the Palace Hotel in Kalgoorlie. The song writer, Dilip Parekh, claims that he was possessed by the spirit of a dead poet when he stayed in Room 62 and rapidly composed this new tune and several others. The song is about an unfortunate soul who smashes their way out of prison in Fremantle and escapes as fast as possible to be reunited with a lover in the Goldfields. Somethings, you just got to do
Dilip n the DAVs are a multi genre original band from Fremantle who have been consistently active on the local WA music scene since 2006 and have released 8 albums and several EPs to date. This new single is in the country rock style following in the tradition of road songs celebrating the vast landscape of the Australian continent.
lyrics
GET TO YOU
Verse 1)
From underground into the light, dry dust in your eyes
This is a red, red land
Heading east from the coast, another hour, are we getting close
And the trees speed by so fast
Another bend and another hill, nothing changes hope it never will
But hey is that a Goldfields sky ?
Prechorus
Cause no cell door or prison wall
Heavy chains or metal doors
Nothing baby keep me away from you
So I crashed it down, smashed right through
Broke right out to get to you
Hey baby, somethings you gotta do
I had to get to you
Chorus
I had to get to you, get to you, somethings you gotta do (repeat)
Instrumental 1)
Repeat Prechorus
Instrumental 2)
Verse 2
A ribbon road up ahead, too much shit going through my head
And those trees, speed by so fast
Another bend and another hill, nothing changes hope it never will
But hey is that a Goldfields sky ?
Prechorus
Cause no cell door or prison wall
Heavy chains or metal doors
Nothing baby keep me away from you
So I crashed it down, smashed right through
Broke right out to get to you
Hey baby, somethings you gotta do
I had to get to you
Chorus
I had to get to you, get to you, somethings you gotta do (repeat
